Is technology a time saver?
I’ve spent all afternoon trying to attach a photo from flickr to my blog as well as trying to learn how to upload other stuff onto by blog. (will this be useful for a lesson? am yet to find out) I’ve engaged the technological minds of 2 consultants Steve and Lloyd and in terms of man hours if i were to cost that i don’t think i could pay them. I finally managed to get my “happy dog” unto the page. hoorah! Yesterday i watched Katy do a starter activity with crazy talk. It took her a very long time and this starter activity will last about 10 minutes of the whole lesson. Jane is also struggling with her open mind starter activity. From the groans and moans i keep hearing from her, i believe she firmly believes her life will be so much better if open mind had not been invented!!My question is ”is there a quicker way of using technology?” Selah (meaning-pause and think about it)

Actually, I wanted to respond to your comment on your page about your journey … the idea that some people think that ICT might have the answer to all the behavioural difficulties. If only! I think that using ICT raises all sorts of other issues, especially when you have planned things and then they don’t work! This could be another interesting topic to discuss. Perhaps we should add a couple of discussions on the Fronter forum?
The answer is Yes!!! It’s to do with confidence and practice. We sometimes get defeated because we measure ourselves against others and think they are doing things better, quicker etc. Selina if I was to do some of the things that come naturally to you it would probably take me a long time to sort them out. When you are prototyping something then it takes time; once you have gained certain skills and know what planning is essential then it doesn’t take long at all. All the people you mentioned have skills that they have gained over a long time in particular aspects of education and now you’re learning a new dimension. If you stick with it, it will become quicker and easier and be like second nature. I know I couldn’t do half of what you and Jane do but that doesn’t mean that I don’t want to learn. You are doing fine, honestly and in another few months you will look back on this journey and be surprised at how far you have come and what you have learn’t. Please come to the twilights (3:30 – 6:00) on Wednesday’s I think it will help you.
